Chapter 17

Ayesha stood there as Rahiem walked out the door and left. She locked the door and went upstairs. She was finding something to watch on TV when her text alert went off. She looked at her phone and smiled. It was Mike.

Mike: Hey baby girl.

Ayesha: Hey Mike. What are you doing?

Mike: Lying in bed thinking of you.

Ayesha: Lol boy stop.

Mike: I’m for real. Can I see you?”

Ayesha: Let me find out you miss me.

Mike: I do baby.

Ayesha: Not tonight baby. I am tired as hell.

Mike: :-(

Ayesha: Why the sad face? I will see you tomorrow. You can come over.

Mike: You must have taken care of that situation.

Ayesha: I did.

Mike: Ok, I will hit you up tomorrow. Goodnight.

Ayesha: Goodnight.

She put her phone on her nightstand. She was about to roll over when her alert sounded off again. This time it was Rahiem. She smiled reading his message.

Rahiem: Goodnight baby. Remember what I said.

Ayesha: If it’s meant to be, we will get back together. I will always love you no matter what though. Goodnight.

This time when she rolled over, she laid there until she drifted off to sleep.

Ayesha woke up the next morning and just lay in bed watching tv until noon. It was Saturday and she just wanted to relax. Her mom knocked on the door.

“Come in mom.”

Phyllis sat on the bed and played in her hair like she used to do when she was child.

“Hey baby, you feeling ok? It’s kind of late.” Phyllis asked.

“Yes, I’m ok. I just have a lot on my mind.” Ayesha responded.

“Like Rahiem?” asked Phyllis.

“That’s one thing. There is this other guy I met a while ago named Mike. He is so nice to me mom.” Ayesha told her.

Phyllis looked at Ayesha with her face bunched up.

“I didn’t know you were talking to other people.” She said.

“Well, it’s not like that, but he is coming over later.”

“What about Rahiem? He loves you baby.” Phyllis told her.

“I know. I told him if it’s meant to be, we will end up together.” Ayesha said.

Phyllis told her that she understood where she was coming from. She told her that she knows that this is a decision that her heart has to make. It made Ayesha smile that her mom was now actually a mother. Her and her mom stayed in Ayesha’s room for a little while longer before getting up and going downstairs.

Ayesha looked at the clock and it was almost two o’clock. She decided to call Mike.

“Hello.”

“Hey Mike, what’s up?”

“I’m good. Just lying around.”

“Me too, you can come over about seven.” She said.

“That’s cool. See you then.” He said.

When they hung up the phone, Ayesha got up to take a shower. When she got out, she put on some tights and a tank top. She threw on her slippers and went downstairs. She ate then her and her mom bonded until it was time for Mike to come.

There was a knock at the door a little past seven. Ayesha knew it was Mike. She jumped up and went to the door.
